VASlan puts the spotlight on Juniors Play Café

Juniors is a registered charity and relies on donations and funding from groups and organisations across Scotland.

Voluntary Action South Lanarkshire (VASlan) is South Lanarkshire’s Third Sector Interface. It is an organisation that is involved with local volunteering development, social enterprise development, supporting and developing a strong third sector, and building third sector relationships with community planning.

Last year, VASlan put the spotlight on Juniors to highlight the fantastic work the charity is doing through its Mums Supporting Mums project.

Juniors’ services and activities can be accessed by struggling mums free of charge, through the use of a discreet referral voucher system. It can be tough to ask for help when we need it. This way, you can get the support you need from Juniors without anybody else having to know.

In addition, Juniors secured funding from VASlan to help further improve its Women and Girls Support Group (WAGS).

WAGS is all about keeping fit and staying healthy, offering mums a childminding service while they attend fitness classes.

Mums Supporting Mums and WAGS are just two examples of the work Juniors does, the charity offers so much more and has become a pillar in local Hamilton community.

However, the Scottish Government’s recent decision to withdraw Juniors’ funding could see the Play Café close its doors. Join us in the fight to save Juniors!
